About Us

The Taiwanese American Association of Biotechnology (TAAB, 台美生技協會) is a U.S.-based nonprofit professional organization that promotes scientific exchange, professional development, networking, and biotechnology collaboration between the United States and Taiwan.

Our community includes scientists, researchers, students, entrepreneurs, educators, corporate leaders, policymakers, and other professionals working in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, life sciences, and related fields.

Our History

The Taiwanese American Association of Biotechnology (TAAB, 台美生技協會), formerly known as the Taiwanese American Association of Pharmaceuticals (TAAP, 台美藥劑協會), was established in 2004.

The organization was founded to create a professional network for Taiwanese and Taiwanese American scientists, researchers, students, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders working in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and related fields.

As the biotechnology sector continued to expand, the organization evolved from TAAP to TAAB to reflect its broader focus across the biotechnology and life-sciences industries.

TAAB is dedicated to promoting scientific exchange, professional development, business collaboration, and communication between the United States and Taiwan. The organization also supports the continued growth and advancement of Taiwan’s biotechnology industry by connecting professionals, institutions, and industry partners across both regions.

Our Mission

TAAB’s mission is to:

Promote biotechnology exchange and business cooperation between the United States and Taiwan.
Encourage communication, coordination, and collaboration among scientists, researchers, policymakers, educators, corporate leaders, students, and professionals in biotechnology and related fields.
Create a professional network for Taiwanese and Taiwanese American biotechnology and pharmaceutical professionals.

Through these activities, TAAB provides opportunities for members and participants to share knowledge, build professional relationships, explore collaborations, and remain connected with developments in biotechnology and related industries.

Who We Are

TAAB comprises scientists and professionals from universities, research institutions, biomedical and pharmaceutical companies, healthcare organizations, government agencies, and other organizations involved in biotechnology and the life sciences.

Most TAAB members hold advanced degrees in life-science-related fields. Many are academic researchers, senior scientists, managers, entrepreneurs, executives, or other professionals involved in biotechnology and pharmaceutical research, development, commercialization, education, and public policy.

Our members represent a broad range of career stages, including graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, early-career professionals, senior scientists, managers, educators, entrepreneurs, and corporate executives.

Although many of our members are located in the United States and Taiwan, TAAB welcomes participation and collaboration from biotechnology professionals and organizations throughout the international community.

Our Leadership

TAAB is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and organizational officers who oversee its programs, operations, financial stewardship, and fulfillment of its nonprofit mission.

The leadership team works with members, volunteers, advisors, speakers, sponsors, and partner organizations to develop educational programs, professional events, mentorship opportunities, and scientific and business collaborations.
